Malika Pukhraj lived here in Jammu – The Dispatch

In the Rajinder bazaar area while coming from Kanak mandi side, on the right side there is a small byline which opens into the courtyard of Malika Pukhraj erstwhile house. This is the house where Malika lived before moving to Lahore in 1940’s.

While still in her teens she was employed as a singer by Maharaja Hari Singh who got her tutored by Miyan Maula Baksh. A hazel and folk singer par excellence of her times, her contributions to Dogri folk singing remains unsurpassed.
Presently the family of Dalip Vaid Owns this house.
