Amazon Style Wants to Roll Out 'Across the Country,' Per a Job Listing – Business Insider

Amazon is planning a rollout of its apparel store chain “across the country,” according to a job posting from the company.
Amazon is hiring for a “Sr. Pre-Construction Manager” to work with Amazon Style, the brick-and-mortar clothing store format it first announced in January.
Whoever is hired will “manage various construction projects across the country,” according to the posting.
“This position will work closely with internal real estate manager partners in negotiating leases and work letter agreements with landlords, ensuring Amazon’s best interests are defined while closely managing delivery timelines,” it says.
Amazon did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Insider on the job postings.
The job description does not say how many stores Amazon plans to open under its Style banner. But officially, Amazon has only announced one planned location for Amazon Style at the Americana Mall at Brand in Los Angeles. That location is set to announce later this year. The company is also hiring other roles related to Amazon Style, including software development engineers and program managers.
The floor of the Style store will function as a showroom, Amazon previously announced. When customers find something they like, they will be able to use the Amazon app on their phones to get specific sizes or colors of a garment to try on.
The store will also feature “Amazon One” technology that allows customers to check out with a scan of their palm.
Style’s introduction comes as Amazon is focusing on fewer types of physical stores. The Seattle-based tech giant closed its Amazon Books, 4-Star, and Pop Up locations earlier this month. It still operates about 500 Whole Foods stores and 25 Amazon Fresh locations.
Analysts have told Insider that the company is likely narrowing its physical store presence and doubling-down on its grocery stores to encourage more purchases from existing Prime members.
